Centre for Blood Research (CBR)

Centre for Blood Research (CBR)

The goal of the CBR is to improve the health and well-being of patients by performing innovative research in blood and blood-related processes. Since impairments in blood and the circulation of the blood are a feature of all diseases, the impact of the CBR is far-reaching.

The interdisciplinary nature of the CBR provides a multitude of oppportunities for graduate and post-graduate students and clinical trainees to perform high-quality research in a stimulating academic environment. The CBR includes over 40 senior investigators with appointments in the Faculties of Applied Science and Engineering, Arts, Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Science, with research groups located in well-equipped labs at the UBC Point Gray Campus, the affiliated Vancouver clinical and teaching hospitals and the BC Cancer Agency. There are also research nodes at the University of Northern British Columbia and at the University of Victoria.

Graduate or post-graduate students or clinical trainees (MDs) wishing to work with faculty members in the CBR are encouraged to directly contact individual investigators (http://www.cbr.ubc.ca) or the CBR Director (mailto:emconway@interchange.ubc.ca) to discuss career plans and research endeavours.
