The Canadian Council on Animal Care is currently accepting applications from suitably qualified candidates to work on ethical issues relating to the use of animals in science. The CCAC fellowship is ideal for candidates who would like to expand the use of their science background to pursue careers at the interface of science and society. The fellowship currently being offered is within the Three Rs Program of the CCAC (see http://www.ccac.ca/en/alternatives) and focuses on the implementation of replacement, reduction and refinement alternatives, in an area pertinent to the candidate’s background and interest.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by offering them a significant financial award to assist them during their studies at Canadian universities. Vanier Scholars demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health-related fields. Canadian and international students are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier Scholarship, which is valued at $50,000 per year for up to three years.
The Vanier application form will be posted on ResearchNet http://www.researchnet.ca/ in mid-August.
The deadline for applicants to submit applications on ResearchNet is 11:59pm on Friday, September 3, 2010. Please note that we are aware that the deadline is quite early in the year. This is due to the change in funding agencies’ deadline, and cannot be changed.
We will forward the complete applications to programs as they arrive. The deadline for programs to submit nominations to the Faculty of Graduate Studies is 4:00pm on Tuesday, September 21, 2010.

The Medical Genetics Graduate Program began in 1991 and offers advanced study and research leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in a variety of aspects of human and medical genetics. The Department has particular strength in human molecular genetics, genome analysis, developmental genetics, gene therapy, cytogenetics, oncogenetics, immunogenetics, genetic epidemiology, genetics of common disorders, and clinical genetics.
